Mustard in Beer Home Brew - don’t knock it until you try it.

posted on August 21, 2008 in Uncategorized

I know you will think I am crazy but I recently brewed up some beer (a lager) and put a small spoon of mild powdered mustard in the yeast mix. I was bored with the usual add in like lemon, chilli, nutmeg and apple. I know these sound crazy too! But it is so much fun playing around with these beer home brews and I am looking for that next big taste.

I am probably not going to get Jessica Simpson to endorse my beer (she has just signed with Stampede Brewing Company of Dallas) but who knows, I might just get noticed at the the next beer show and make the big time.

For the moment I am happy to feed my friends with these exotic flavoured beers and let the word get out. I am not trying to make a profession out of beer home brewing, but who knows!

If you want any tips on how to get started here is a book (The Joy of Homebrewing, Third Ediion) that you can get from Amazon for aroung $10. I used to get started and I still use it as a reference if things start to go really badly with the brews.

So if you want to have a great start to your home brewing journey then check out the book.
