Beer Home Brew
BEER Home Brew and save hundred of dollars !!
Home brewing can save you hundreds of dollars off your yearly wine or beer cost. To brew your own is becoming more popular as a way of saving money and the most popular style is beer home brew and for good reason.
Making beer is a lot of fun not just because you get to taste your own product. You don’t have to get complicated equipment because all you need to get started is a simple micro-brewery kit. These are usually under a hundred dollars and include the ingredients for your first batch. The great thing is that the brewing equipment can last as long as ten years if you look after it. So even though there is a small outlay at the beginning, it will pay for itself many times over.
My advice in the early stages is to follow all the instructions in the kits so that you get a consistency in what you make. You can experiment with a few different brands and types (like lager, pale ale etc) until you know which one suits your taste.
Once you get a hang of how to brew beer you can then start experimenting with different types of tastes. You can pretty much add anything to the water to give a different taste. I have even tried putting strawberries in the mix and ended up with a great after diner ale.
Once you get the hang of it (and it won’t take long) you start to experiment with the combinations of yeast and hops and water quality and you will find the ‘perfect beer home brew’. Can’t think of anything better than having a few buddies around on a Sunday afternoon to sample your brew and have a BBQ. I have so many laughs doing this.
Is making beer home brew difficult?
Not really. All you need is a little time and patience. There is some boiling water, measuring and experimenting with flavors and mixtures. You will need to have some space in the kitchen when you are brewing so you can make it a real family affair (or not). Some people have taken Beer brewing and turned it into an art. I know of one brewer who has over 20 different batches that she makes. These are flavors like, honey, mustard, apple and chilli. She serves the apple beer with apple pie. Yum!
Where do you find out how to brew beer?
Researching the suppliers will obviously depend on where you live. There are some suppliers who sell their beer brewing equipment off the web but be careful of the freight cost and only buy from a reputable supplier. Ask around and you will find that there are closet home brewers who will have a favored local supplier.
I found this great book on home brew and it really helped me to get the basics right. Even now as a ‘veteran’ I refer to the book all the time for tips on how to be a better beer brewer. Have at the look at the book here
